Il a beaucoup travaill\u00e9 sur la probl\u00e9matique de la lumi\u00e8re, rendant des atmosph\u00e8res tr\u00e8s douces dans ces \u0153uvres. Il s\u2019est pour cela int\u00e9ress\u00e9 \u00e0 la th\u00e9matique de la fen\u00eatre, se penchant sur les effets de lumi\u00e8re qui en d\u00e9coulent. V\u00e9ritable symbole du tableau pour certains, qui voient dans le tableau accroch\u00e9 au mur une fen\u00eatre ouverte sur le monde, de nombreux artistes se sont empar\u00e9s de ce motif.<\/p>\n<p>Ici, la fen\u00eatre est probablement plus un pr\u00e9texte pour repr\u00e9senter cette femme de dos, nue, et pour travailler sur les effets de la lumi\u00e8re. Cr\u00e9ant une sorte de contre-jour, toute la gravure semble se dissoudre dans la lumi\u00e8re du jour. Cet aspect vaporeux est \u00e9galement conf\u00e9r\u00e9 par la technique de la gravure dite \u00ab au vernis mou \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Cette technique consiste \u00e0 \u00e9taler une fine couche de vernis sur une plaque de cuivre. Il faut ensuite graver son dessin \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019une pointe dans le vernis. La plaque de cuivre est ensuite plong\u00e9e dans l\u2019acide. L\u00e0 o\u00f9 le vernis a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00f4t\u00e9 par le dessin \u00e0 la pointe, la plaque de cuivre se creusera : ce sont les zones qui contiendront l\u2019encre et traceront les traits du dessin. Le vernis restant est ensuite enlev\u00e9 d\u00e9licatement de la plaque, la plaque est encr\u00e9e et une feuille appos\u00e9e dessus, le tout passant sous la presse pour imprimer le dessin.
