Le mythe veut que trois d\u00e9esses, Ath\u00e9na, H\u00e9ra et Aphrodite, se soient affront\u00e9es pour d\u00e9terminer la plus belle d\u2019entre elles. P\u00e2ris doit les d\u00e9partager en remettant une pomme d\u2019or \u00e0 la gagnante. Chaque d\u00e9esse cherche alors \u00e0 le convaincre de la choisir et P\u00e2ris se laisse s\u00e9duire par la proposition d\u2019Aphrodite qui lui promet la plus belle des femmes en \u00e9change de la pomme. Cette femme n\u2019est autre qu\u2019H\u00e9l\u00e8ne dont l\u2019enl\u00e8vement par P\u00e2ris d\u00e9clenche la guerre de Troie.<\/p><p>Dans cette gouache, on reconna\u00eet en effet les personnages principaux\u00a0: P\u00e2ris, assis contre l\u2019arbre, au centre, et sur notre gauche les trois d\u00e9esses. Toutefois, le mythe est presque annexe dans cette \u0153uvres\u00a0: les quatre personnages se perdent dans une v\u00e9g\u00e9tation luxuriante qui occupe plus de 80\u00a0% de la composition. Par ailleurs, ne reste de l\u2019\u00e9vocation antique que les drap\u00e9s des d\u00e9esses et la tunique de P\u00e2ris mais nous sommes bien en peine pour d\u00e9terminer le mythe lorsque nous ne voyons pas le titre.<\/p><p>Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 rejoint celui du \u00ab paysage historique \u00bb qui appara\u00eet au XVIIe si\u00e8cle. Cela consiste \u00e0 prendre un \u00ab pr\u00e9texte \u00bb historique, dont l\u2019\u00e9vocation est souvent r\u00e9duite \u00e0 portion congrue, pour justifier la peinture d\u2019un paysage. Cela permet de cr\u00e9er une peinture de paysage qui aurait les lettres de noblesse d\u2019une peinture d\u2019histoire, la peinture d\u2019histoire \u00e9tant au premier rang de la hi\u00e9rarchie des genres. Ici, Simons n&rsquo;a toutefois pas besoin de pr\u00e9texte : on peut plut\u00f4t percevoir son r\u00f4le d&rsquo;illustrateur et son attention pr\u00eat\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;esth\u00e9tique et au narratif d&rsquo;un r\u00e9cit.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Une vue champ\u00eatre ou le point de d\u00e9part d\u2019une guerre mythique&nbsp;?
